What is Be The Locals?
Be The Locals is a slow travel community started in Coimbatore, India. We believe the best way to experience a place is to live like the people who call it home. No tourist checklists. No rushed itineraries. Just stories from people who slowed down long enough to actually see a place, and the locals who made it unforgettable.
We also walk together. Small community journeys take members into forests, villages and workshops with the people who know them best.
How it works
Anyone can be a tourist. Being a local takes intention, patience and genuine curiosity.
Not a destination, a place. A village, a neighbourhood. Somewhere worth staying for a week, not an afternoon.
The chai stall owner. The auto driver. The grandmother who makes the best biriyani on the street. They are the place.
